Nursery Support Worker – Darlington

Milk Education is working with a number of welcoming and supportive Nurseries across Darlington and the surrounding areas and is looking to recruit caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated Nursery Support Workers to join settings from September 2026.

Whether you’re an experienced Nursery Support Worker, Nursery Assistant, Early Years Practitioner, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant (LSA), or have recent experience supporting children in an early years or childcare setting, we’d love to hear from you.

We have a range of long‑term, full‑time opportunities available, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

You’ll play a vital role in supporting young children during their early years, helping to create a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment where every child can learn, develop, and thrive.

Key Responsibilities

• Support children aged 0–5 with their daily learning, play, and development.
• Assist with planning and delivering engaging early years activities in line with the EYFS framework.
• Encourage children’s social, emotional, physical, and communication development.
• Build positive relationships with children, parents, carers, and colleagues.
• Support children with additional needs, including SEND, where required.
• Promote positive behaviour using consistent behaviour management strategies.
• Assist with personal care, mealtimes, and daily routines where required.
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating nursery environment.
• Work closely with the Nursery Manager, Room Leader, and Early Years Practitioners.
• Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

• Previous experience working with children aged 0–5.
• Experience working within a Nursery, Early Years setting, Preschool, Childcare, Primary School, or similar childcare environment is advantageous.
• Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is desirable.
• Understanding of child development and the ability to support children’s learning through play.
• A patient, caring, and enthusiastic approach.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, and families.
• A genuine passion for supporting children during their early years and helping them reach their full potential.

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
