Milk Education is working in partnership with a specialist school in Nottingham that is looking to appoint a reliable and proactive School Caretaker on a permanent basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a welcoming school where you’ll play a key role in ensuring the site remains safe, secure, well maintained and fully operational, creating a clean, safe and positive environment for pupils, staff and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the school site is safe, secure and compliant with health and safety, safeguarding and statutory regulations.
- Carry out routine maintenance, repairs and planned preventative maintenance across the school site.
- Complete regular health and safety checks, including fire alarms, emergency lighting, intruder alarms and other statutory testing.
- Open and lock the school, maintain site security and ensure the buildings and grounds are presented to a high standard.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and site issues, prioritising safety and minimising disruption to learning.
- Liaise with contractors and support the coordination of maintenance works and statutory inspections.
- Support the Business Manager with health and safety responsibilities, including risk assessments, COSHH and compliance records.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, asset registers and site documentation.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience in a caretaker, site supervisor, facilities or maintenance role, ideally within a school or educational setting.
- Good practical maintenance and DIY skills.
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation, COSHH and site compliance requirements.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise workloads and solve problems effectively.
- Strong communication skills with a proactive and flexible approach.
- A commitment to safeguarding and maintaining a safe learning environment.
