Milk Education are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant to work in one of our partner primary schools in Morpeth. You will need to be flexible, energetic and enthusiastic about working with children who have complex needs and/or autism. If you are up for a challenge and really want to help make a difference in children’s lives, then Milk might have the role for you!

Role 1: Full Time, Monday to Friday, 8.30 – 3.30, Term Time Only

Role 2: Part Time, Monday to Friday, 8.30 to 12.00, Term Time Only

Teaching Assistant responsibilities:

  • Support students with special educational needs (SEN) in their academic and personal development
  • Assist the classroom teacher in implementing Education Health Care Plans (EHCP) and adapting materials to meet students’ needs
  • Provide students with one-on-one or small group support in and out of the classroom
  • Help manage students’ behaviour and ensure a positive learning environment
  • Collaborate with the teaching staff and parents to monitor progress and address concerns
  • Promote inclusivity and foster a nurturing and supportive environment for all students

Teaching Assistant requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy and the ability to build rapport with students
  • Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with teachers and staff
  • Experience supporting individuals with additional needs is desirable
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the classroom
