Milk Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive specialist provision in Northampton that is looking to appoint a dedicated Teacher for their Caterpillar Pod. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate teacher who is committed to supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly those with communication and interaction needs.

Working within a specialist Communication and Interaction Unit, you will support pupils across EYFS and KS1 to develop academically, socially, and emotionally through personalised teaching and a nurturing approach.

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils within the Communication and Interaction Unit.
  • Teach pupils across EYFS and KS1 with a range of SEND needs, adapting learning to suit individual communication, interaction, and developmental needs.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment where every child feels valued and supported.
  • Support the day-to-day running of the Caterpillar Pod, ensuring high-quality provision and effective classroom organisation.
  • Monitor, assess, and track pupil progress, contributing to EHCP targets and personalised learning plans.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, school staff, and external professionals to provide the best possible outcomes for pupils.
  • Build strong relationships with parents and carers, maintaining effective communication and supporting a joined-up approach to each child's development.
  • Contribute to Annual Reviews, EHCP consultations, admissions, and other statutory processes as required.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding and promote the wellbeing, independence, and confidence of every pupil.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children with SEND, particularly communication and interaction needs, within either mainstream or specialist settings.
  • Strong understanding of inclusive teaching strategies and differentiated learning.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach to teaching.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
