Are you passionate about supporting pupils’ emotional wellbeing and promoting positive behaviour in a nurturing, structured environment? We are seeking dedicated Resilience & Behaviour Support Assistants to join our supportive team in the Ashington area. This rewarding role focuses on helping children with SEMH needs, behavioural challenges, and barriers to learning develop the resilience, self-regulation, and motivation they need to flourish. We are looking for both part time and full time Support Assistants.

You’ll work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and external professionals to create a calm, safe and encouraging learning environment where every child feels understood, supported, and empowered.

Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday

What You Need:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with behavioural or SEMH needs
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build trust and positive relationships
  • A calm, patient and consistent approach to behaviour support
  • The ability to provide two recent references (work-based or educational)
  • Genuine passion for championing young people’s emotional wellbeing and growth

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils in regulating emotions, managing behaviour, and engaging positively in learning
  • Implement personalised behaviour support plans and resilience‑building strategies
  • Provide 1 and small group interventions focusing on emotional literacy, problem‑solving, and confidence
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff to ensure consistent, supportive approaches
  • De‑escalate challenging situations using trauma‑informed and restorative practices
  • Build strong, trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe, valued and motivated
  • Contribute to behaviour tracking, progress monitoring and ongoing support planning
  • Encourage a positive and inclusive school culture where every young person can thrive
