We are looking for Early Career Secondary Teachers to join our dedicated schools across the Durham area. This exciting opportunity is perfect for newly qualified or early career teachers who are eager to make a lasting impact, develop their classroom practice, and grow within a nurturing school community.

As an ECT, you will be supported by experienced mentors, a collaborative staff team, and clear professional development pathways—all designed to help you thrive in your first years of teaching.

Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday

Location: Sunderland and surrounding areas

What You Need:

  • QTS or pending QTS (Early Career Teachers encouraged to apply)
  • A passion for working with young people and delivering engaging, high-quality lessons
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A reflective, proactive approach to teaching and learning
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
  • Two recent references (school-based if possible)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver inspiring, well-structured lessons tailored to diverse learning needs
  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom culture where all pupils feel valued and supported
  • Use assessment and feedback effectively to track progress and plan next steps
  • Implement school behaviour policies and promote positive student engagement
  • Work closely with department leads, mentors, and senior staff to develop your practice
  • Contribute to the wider school community, including pastoral responsibilities and extracurricular activities
  • Build strong relationships with parents and carers, supporting a collaborative approach to pupil success
