Aspiring Primary Education Psychologist in North East

We’re currently recruiting for Learning Support Assistants to join our Primary Schools in North Durham / Sunderland on a long-term basis starting in September. This role is temporary. This is a great opportunity for a new or experienced educator or Psychology Graduate.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Provide tailored learning support to pupils on a one-to-one and small group basis, helping them engage in lessons and achieve their individual learning goals.
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing by using effective behaviour management strategies and supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff and SEND professionals to implement support plans, monitor pupil progress, and adapt interventions to meet individual needs.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, encouraging confidence, resilience, independence, and active participation in school life.

Requirements or Skills:

• Psychology degree or relevant background in child development, mental health, or education.
• Strong understanding of supporting children’s emotional wellbeing, behaviour, and additional needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
• A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach with a genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development.

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
