We are recruiting Graduate Teaching Assistants on behalf of a welcoming Primary School in Gateshead. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about working with children and gaining hands-on classroom experience before progressing into teaching, education support, or childcare-related careers.
The school is seeking enthusiastic and committed graduates who can support pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2. You will be working with children who may need additional support to access learning, including those with SEND, speech and language needs, or social and emotional barriers to learning. This is a full-time, term-time only role starting April 2026, working Monday to Friday, 8:30–15:30.
What you will be doing:
- Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups across the primary curriculum
- Assisting the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
- Helping children who need additional support to access learning activities
- Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in the classroom
- Supporting children with reading, writing, numeracy and communication skills
- Promoting independence, confidence and social development
- Assisting with classroom routines, transitions and learning structure
- Working closely with teaching staff to support individual pupil needs

- A degree in any subject (2:2 and above)

- Experience working with children or young people (voluntary or paid) is desirable
- Strong communication and teamwork skills

- A willingness to learn and take on training and guidance from school staff
No prior school-based experience is required—full training and ongoing support will be provided.
