Milk Education is more than a supply partner — we’re a community for educators. We’re currently recruiting for an Autism Support Worker to join a specialist SEND provision in Westerhope, Newcastle, starting immediately on a term‑time basis. This setting supports primary aged pupils with complex learning needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, and physical or sensory impairments. The school is committed to inclusion, communication, and removing barriers to learning through tailored support and strong collaboration with families and external professionals. You’ll be joining a caring and inclusive environment where every pupil is supported to build confidence, independence, and reach their full potential. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a meaningful impact in a specialist setting.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils one-to-one and in small groups, tailored to their individual needs
  • Assisting with personal care, including feeding, hygiene, and wellbeing support
  • Working alongside the class teacher to adapt lesson activities and resources
  • Promoting engagement and positive learning outcomes
  • Supporting behaviour management in line with school strategies
  • Building positive, trusting relationships to encourage communication and independence
  • Monitoring and recording pupil progress, behaviour, and wellbeing
  • Following all safeguarding procedures and school policies
