We are looking for a compassionate and adaptable Learning Support Assistant to support children and young people with a range of needs, including those in care and with social, emotional, and behavioural challenges.

You will work across both classroom and residential settings, supporting pupils’ learning during the day and helping them develop life skills, routines, and positive relationships outside of school hours.

Flexibility is essential as this role may involve working at different sites within the L35 area.

Key Responsibilities

Support pupils with learning activities, emotional regulation, and social skills in the classroom

Assist with daily living skills and residential routines (mealtimes, activities, bedtime)

Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people

Promote independence, resilience, and confidence

Work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team including teachers, carers, and therapists

Ensure a safe, structured, and nurturing environment both in class and residential settings

Requirements

Experience working with children/young people with diverse needs (including children in care)

Understanding of trauma-informed practice and behaviour support strategies (training can be provided)

Flexible approach to working hours and locations

Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
