A forward-thinking secondary school in Abbey Wood (SE2) is seeking confident and proactive SEN TAs to join the team from February half term. Following the appointment of a committed new Headteacher who has previously spent many years at the school, the school is on a clear journey of improving attainment, culture, and outcomes for pupils. This role is ideal for someone who wants to be visible, hands-on, and genuinely make a difference rather than blend into the background.

As a SEN TA, you will support pupils across KS3 and KS4 with a range of additional needs, contributing positively to behaviour, engagement, and progress. What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting students with SEN across KS3 and KS4 in lessons, interventions, and one-to-one sessions
  • Helping pupils regulate behaviour, remain engaged, and access learning effectively
  • Working closely with teachers, the SENCo, and pastoral staff to support EHCPs and individual plans
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with students and acting as a consistent, positive role model

Essential skills / experience:

  • Experience supporting young people with SEN, SEMH, or additional needs (school or related settings)
  • Confidence, resilience, and initiative — this role requires a proactive, visible presence
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt your approach to individual needs
