Newly Qualified Teaching Assistant (Level 2/3) – Year 1

Full-time | 08:30am – 15:30pm | Monday to Friday

Milk Education is working in partnership with a welcoming primary school in Newcastle to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 class. This is a full-time, long-term role with an immediate start, ideal for someone looking to gain valuable classroom experience and progress their career.

About the Role

You will support the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons and work closely with pupils across the classroom, including providing one-to-one support for children with SEND. A good understanding of phonics and a willingness to get involved in all aspects of classroom life are key.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support pupils across the classroom and on a one-to-one basis
  • Help keep children engaged and focused throughout the day
  • Assist with phonics and early learning activities
  • Prepare classroom resources and support daily tasks
  • Create a positive, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff
What We’re Looking For
  • Recently completed (or soon to complete) Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 3 desirable)
  • Some experience supporting children, ideally in a school setting
  • Interest or experience in supporting children with SEND
  • Basic understanding of phonics (training can be provided)
  • Patient, enthusiastic, and adaptable approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
