Milk Education are looking for a Phonics Intervention Buddy for a Primary School in Liverpool (L25) to work in a temporary, short-term position. This is a school that prides itself on being supportive and inclusive, with high standards of attainment and behaviour.
This Small Group and Phonics Buddy role will involve keeping the children on task and ensuring that the work they are doing is being done to a good standard. You will be responsible for getting resources ready for the day and ensuring the children’s needs are being met. In this role, you will provide an inclusive, patient and nurturing learning environment for all children.
The Phonics Intervention Buddy role is to commence as soon as possible and the hours of work are 08:30am-15:30pm, Monday to Friday.
Small Group and Phonics Buddy Role & Responsibilities:
- Work with children who may be struggling with phonics, reading, lack language skills or have little confidence.
- Support pupils to apply comprehension strategies independently to reading tasks, contexts and subjects.
- Plan and deliver 1-1 reading interventions suitable for primary aged children.
- Carefully select texts to match each student’s reading level, these texts are used in targeted lessons where you will work with students to improve their comprehension skills.
Phonics Intervention Buddy Non-negotiables:
- Have a strong understanding and knowledge of phonics and different schemes, for example, Read, Write, Inc, Jolly Phonics, Letters and Sounds or Floppy Phonics etc.
- Have a good grasp of written and spoken English.
- An understanding of and commitment to safeguarding children.
- Enthusiasm and a can-do attitude.
- A good work ethic.
