We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Level 3 British Sign Language (BSL) Qualified Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Key Stage 2 pupil within a welcoming primary school in the L28 area of Liverpool.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the child's communication, learning, and social development, ensuring they can fully access the curriculum and thrive within the school environment.
Essential Requirements
- BSL Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) - essential.
- Previous experience supporting deaf or hearing-impaired children in an educational setting.
- Experience working with Key Stage 2 pupils.
- A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider school team.
- A patient, caring and adaptable approach to supporting children with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support for a KS2 pupil using British Sign Language.
- Facilitate communication between the pupil, staff and peers.
- Support learning activities both inside and outside the classroom.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals.
- Promote the pupil's independence, confidence and inclusion in all aspects of school life.
- Monitor progress and contribute to support plans and reviews.
