Milk Education is working with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Knowsley that is seeking a full-time
SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a student with
ADHD .
The school is looking for a patient, resilient, and nurturing individual who can build a positive relationship with the student and support them in overcoming barriers to learning.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and helping them achieve their full potential within a secondary school environment.
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will support the student throughout the school day, helping them remain engaged in lessons, develop positive learning behaviours, and access the curriculum successfully.
You will work closely with teaching staff, the SEND department, and pastoral teams to ensure the student’s academic, social, and emotional needs are met.
Your Main Responsibilities Will Include
- Promote inclusion and encourage full participation in school life.
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a student with ADHD.
- Support the student to remain focused, engaged, and on task during lessons.
- Work closely with teachers to adapt learning activities and resources where required.
- Assist with the implementation of behaviour support strategies.
- Support the student’s social, emotional, and academic development.
- Build positive relationships with staff, students, and parents/carers.
- Contribute to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
Requirements or Skills
- Recent and relevant experience working with children or young people, ideally within a secondary school setting.
- Experience supporting students with SEND, particularly ADHD, is highly desirable.
- A genuine passion for education and supporting young people.
- Strong communication, literacy, and numeracy skills.
- Ability to work effectively under the guidance of teachers and SEND professionals.
- Patient, proactive, and adaptable approach.
- Excellent behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
- Reliable, professional, and punctual.
