What does a Sports Coach / Cover Supervisor do?

  • Supervise whole classes in the absence of the teacher, ensuring lessons run smoothly
  • Deliver pre-prepared work and keep pupils focused and engaged
  • Use your coaching and leadership skills to build positive relationships with students
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
  • Provide support and guidance where needed, helping pupils stay on track
  • Support students during PE lessons and practical activities where required

What we’re looking for

  • Experience working with young people through sports, coaching, education, or youth work
  • A degree or relevant coaching qualification is desirable but not essential
  • A confident and enthusiastic approach to working with secondary-aged students
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Strong classroom management and the ability to maintain positive behaviour
  • Professional presence and the ability to adapt quickly to different school environments
  • A genuine passion for sport, physical activity, and supporting young people
  • Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor or Teaching Assistant is helpful, but not essential
  • Sports graduates, qualified coaches, and aspiring teachers are welcome to apply!
