Milk Education is working with welcoming and inclusive primary schools across Leeds who are looking for enthusiastic Speech & Language Specialists to join their teams as Teaching Assistants. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in Speech and Language Therapy, Linguistics, Communication Studies, Psychology, Childhood Studies, or related fields to gain valuable experience supporting children in a school environment.

The Role
- Support pupils with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN)
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to develop communication skills
- Deliver targeted activities and interventions under the guidance of teachers and SENCOs
- Help children develop confidence in speaking, listening, and social interaction
- Support pupils with additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, and communication difficulties
- Use creative strategies, games, and activities to encourage engagement and learning
- Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals
- Create a positive, inclusive environment where every child feels supported

Who We’re Looking For
- A degree or background in Speech & Language Therapy, Communication Studies, Linguistics, Psychology, Childhood Studies, Education, or related subjects
- Experience working with children or young people (desirable but not essential)

- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning
No formal Teaching Assistant qualification is required — we’re looking for the right attitude, passion, and transferable skills.
