Milk Education is partnering with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Leeds to recruit a compassionate and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
You’ll play an important role in helping pupils feel safe, supported and engaged, enabling them to develop emotionally, socially and academically within a nurturing school environment.
Monday to Friday | 8:30am – 3:30pm
Contract: Initially offered on a week-by-week basis, with the opportunity to secure a long-term position.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide calm, patient and consistent support for pupils with SEMH needs.
- Develop positive and trusting relationships to promote emotional wellbeing.
- Support pupils with emotional regulation and implement positive behaviour strategies.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider pastoral team to tailor learning and support plans.
- Encourage confidence, independence and active participation in the classroom.
- Help create a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment where every child can succeed.
- What We’re Looking For
- Recent experience (within the last two years) supporting children or young people with SEMH or additional needs.
- A good understanding of behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies.
- A patient, resilient and adaptable approach to supporting pupils.
- Confidence working with individuals and small groups.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A genuine commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of young people.
