We’re currently recruiting for a Pastoral Support Worker to join a supportive school in Leeds on a long or short-term basis, starting in September. You’ll be joining an inclusive and nurturing school that places wellbeing, inclusion and positive relationships at the heart of school life.

The school is looking for someone who can provide consistent support to pupils and help them overcome barriers to learning. This is a great opportunity for a new or experienced education professional to become a familiar and trusted face within a school community, supporting pupils both academically and emotionally.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group pastoral support to pupils
  • Supporting pupils with their emotional wellbeing, confidence and self-esteem
  • Helping pupils develop positive relationships and social skills
  • Supporting students who may experience behavioural, emotional or social difficulties
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and the wider pastoral team to identify and respond to individual needs
  • Helping pupils manage emotions, develop resilience and make positive choices
  • Supporting attendance, engagement and positive attitudes towards learning
  • Creating a calm, safe and inclusive environment where every pupil feels valued and supported

Requirements or Skills:

  • Recent experience working with children or young people in a school, education, youth work, care or similar setting
  • A calm, patient and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Confidence supporting pupils with behavioural, emotional or social needs
  • Ability to build trust and maintain appropriate professional boundaries
  • Comfortable working as part of a wider pastoral and teaching team
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people to reach their potential
  • A Level 2 or 3 qualification in education, childcare, youth work or a similar area is desirable, but equivalent hands-on experience will be considered

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
