We’re currently recruiting Aspiring Teachers to work in supportive primary and secondary schools across Leeds on a long or short-term basis, with opportunities available from September. This is an ideal opportunity for graduates, trainee teachers, PGCE students, or anyone considering a career in teaching who wants to gain valuable paid classroom experience before beginning or completing their teacher training. You’ll be joining welcoming and inclusive schools that value consistency, wellbeing and community. You’ll gain first-hand experience of classroom life while working alongside experienced teachers and support staff.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils one-to-one and in small groups, responding to their individual learning needs
  • Assisting teachers with lesson preparation and classroom activities
  • Supporting pupils with English, Maths and wider curriculum subjects
  • Helping deliver catch-up and intervention sessions to close learning gaps
  • Supporting pupils with SEND and additional learning needs
  • Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging pupils to engage with their learning
  • Building positive relationships with pupils and becoming a trusted member of the school team
  • Gaining practical experience of classroom routines, behaviour management and inclusive teaching

Requirements or Skills:

  • A genuine interest in pursuing a career in teaching
  • A degree, relevant qualification, or current enrolment on a teacher training programme is desirable
  • Experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, enthusiastic and proactive approach
  • Comfortable taking direction from experienced teachers and working as part of a team
  • A genuine passion for education and helping young people reach their potential

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
