We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and proactive 1:1 Support Staff member to work across welcoming primary schools in Leeds. In this role, you will provide tailored, consistent support to a pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them access learning, build confidence, and thrive both academically and emotionally in a safe and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN (e.g. ASD, ADHD, Speech & Language needs, SEMH)
- Support academic progress, emotional wellbeing, and social development
- Implement tailored strategies and interventions under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO
- Use positive, calm and consistent behaviour management approaches
- Encourage independence, engagement, and confidence in all classroom activities
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families
- Communicate effectively with teachers, parents/carers, and external professionals where required
Requirements
- Experience supporting children with SEN in a primary school or similar setting (essential)
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
- Strong relationship-building skills with children and staff
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Relevant qualifications (Level 2/3 TA, SEN training, or equivalent experience)
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
