We’re looking for compassionate, resilient, and caring Assistant Residential Practitioners to join a dedicated team supporting children and young people in a secure unit home in Leeds.

About the Role

As a Assistant Residential Practitioner, you’ll work as part of a supportive team to provide a safe, nurturing, and stable home environment for children and young people.

You’ll play a key role in helping them develop emotionally, socially, and educationally while promoting independence and positive life outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building positive and trusting relationships with children and young people
  • Providing consistent care and emotional support
  • Encouraging independence and life skills development
  • Supporting education, health, and personal wellbeing
  • Promoting positive behaviour through nurturing and restorative approaches
  • Working alongside families, social workers, education providers, and other professionals
  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to care plans
  • Creating a safe, welcoming, and supportive home environment
  • Depending on the service, you may work with young people with complex needs, emotional and behavioural difficulties, or within mainstream residential homes.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for individuals who are:

  • Passionate about improving the lives of vulnerable children and young people
  • Caring, patient, and emotionally resilient
  • Excellent communicators with strong interpersonal skills
  • Flexible and able to work a rota that includes evenings, weekends, bank holidays, waking nights, or sleep‑ins where required
  • Committed to providing outstanding care and support

You’ll ideally have:

  • Experience supporting children or young people through employment, volunteering, education, or personal experience
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or willingness to complete the qualification (fully funded)
  • Good literacy, numeracy, and basic IT skills
