The Role

As a

Learning Support Assistant , you’ll play a key role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning by providing tailored support throughout the school day.

Working alongside experienced teachers, therapists, and support staff, you’ll help create an engaging, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every pupil can succeed.

You’ll be supporting pupils with a variety of needs, including

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD)
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Physical disabilities and complex learning needs
  • What You’ll Be Doing
  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Encouraging participation and engagement in lessons and activities.
  • Promoting communication, independence, and confidence.
  • Supporting positive behaviour using individual strategies.
  • Assisting with sensory, practical, and therapeutic activities where appropriate.
  • Supporting pupils during breaktimes, lunchtime, and educational visits.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and families to support pupil progress.
  • Helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

  • Care or support work
  • Residential childcare
  • Youth work or mentoring
  • Sports coaching
  • Behaviour support
  • Psychology, Education, Health & Social Care or Childhood Studies graduates

  • Experience working with children or young people (school‑based, care, coaching, or voluntary experience welcomed).
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Two professional references covering the last two years.
