Use creativity to connect with students who struggle to find their voice. Are you an Art or Creative Arts graduate passionate about using creativity to support non-verbal students with high-support autism? Milk Education is recruiting an Aspiring Art Therapist to work as a Learning Support Assistant in a Haringey secondary school. You will support students with complex autism, communication barriers, and high-support needs—using art as a tool for regulation, expression, and connection.
The Role
- Work with students who have:
- Non-verbal or minimally verbal autism
- High-support needs requiring 1:1 intervention
- Sensory overload and communication frustration
- SEMH needs linked to neurodiversity
- Anxiety, trauma, and emotional dysregulation
- Collaborate with SENCOs, SaLT, and OTs to deliver creative, trauma-informed support.
Your Experience Will Include:
- Art-based activities to promote communication and self-expression
- Emotional regulation through sensory and creative interventions
- Building trust with non-verbal or disengaged learners
- Gaining exposure to safeguarding, behaviour management, and pastoral care
