Milk Education is working with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Liverpool (L23) seeking a full-time
SEND Teaching Assistant to support students aged 11-16 with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, SEMH needs, and moderate learning difficulties.
This role is due to start in
September 2026 and will initially be a long-term temporary position with the potential to become permanent.
The school is looking for a patient, resilient, and proactive individual who can support students both inside and outside the classroom, helping them to access learning, build confidence, and achieve positive outcomes.
Working hours are
8:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday .
The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide targeted support to identified students on a 1:1 basis and within small groups across Key Stages 3 and 4.
You will work closely with teachers, the SEND department, and pastoral staff to ensure students remain engaged, focused, and supported throughout the school day.
You will help students overcome barriers to learning, develop social skills, improve emotional regulation, and make progress both academically and personally.
- Main Responsibilities
- Support students with SEND across a range of curriculum subjects.
- Provide one-to-one and small group interventions.
- Promote inclusion and encourage participation in lessons.
- Support students with behaviour management strategies and emotional regulation.
- Assist teachers with lesson preparation and classroom activities.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and the SEND team.
- Encourage independence, confidence, and positive relationships.
- Contribute to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
Requirements
- Recent experience working with children or young people within the last two years.
- Experience supporting SEND, SEMH, Autism, ADHD, or behavioural needs is desirable.
- A genuine passion for supporting young people in education.
- Strong communication, literacy, and numeracy skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
- Reliable, professional, and punctual approach.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
