Psychology Graduate – KS2 Learning Support Assistant

Role Overview

Are you a Psychology Graduate with a strong interest in child development, learning, and wellbeing? Are you looking to gain valuable hands‑on experience supporting pupils academically, emotionally, and socially within a KS2 setting?

Milk Education is recruiting a Psychology Graduate to work as a Learning Support Assistant in a welcoming mainstream primary school in the L32 area of Liverpool, on a part‑time basis of 3 days per week.

This role is ideal for graduates considering future careers in Educational Psychology, Child Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, or Occupational Therapy.

You will work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and support staff to help pupils overcome barriers to learning during this key stage of their education.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to KS2 pupils
• Support children with additional needs, including SEND, SEMH, ADHD, and speech and language needs
• Assist pupils with emotional regulation, concentration, and social interaction
• Support the delivery of English, including reading, writing, and comprehension
• Support pupils with Maths and other areas of the curriculum
• Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and engagement in learning
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil needs
• Observe, monitor, and accurately record pupil progress and behaviour
• Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and the SENCO
• Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment

What We’re Looking For

• A degree in Psychology or a relevant subject within the past 5 years (or if you are in your final year and can commit to the hours) – essential
• A strong interest in child development, behaviour, and educational psychology
• Experience working with children or young people through schools, tutoring, clubs, care, or volunteering – desirable but not essential
• A calm, patient, and resilient approach
• Strong communication and observation skills
• Commitment to providing consistent and reliable support
• Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team
