Milk Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream secondary school in Knowsley, Liverpool to recruit a dedicated 1:1 ADHD Support Worker to start as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for a compassionate graduate, aspiring SEND professional, or experienced support worker who is passionate about helping young people with ADHD overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. As a 1:1 ADHD Support Worker, you will provide tailored support to a student within a mainstream secondary setting, helping them remain engaged in lessons, manage their emotions, develop organisational skills, and build positive relationships with peers and staff. You will work closely with teachers, the SEND department, and pastoral teams to ensure the student receives consistent support throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a secondary-aged student with ADHD
  • Support the student to access learning and remain focused during lessons
  • Implement strategies to improve attention, organisation, and self-regulation
  • Build a positive and trusting relationship to promote confidence and wellbeing
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and SEND professionals to meet individual learning needs
  • Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour throughout the school day
  • Adapt support approaches to suit the student’s strengths and challenges
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to school staff where appropriate
  • Encourage independence, resilience, and positive engagement with learning
  • Promote safeguarding, inclusion, and student wellbeing at all times
The Ideal Candidate:
  • A degree in Psychology, Criminology, Education, Health & Social Care, Youth Work, or a related field, or previous experience supporting young people with ADHD or additional needs
  • Experience working with children or young people in education, care, youth work, or support settings is desirable
  • Understanding of ADHD and its impact on learning, behaviour, and emotional regulation
  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to remain calm and adaptable in challenging situations
  • Passion for supporting young people to succeed academically and personally
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
