Are you currently working as an Intervention Teaching Assistant and looking to take the next step towards a career in Special Educational Needs or becoming a Behaviour Mentor for the school? We are recruiting Learning Support Assistants on behalf of a secondary school in Liverpool. This role offers meaningful, hands-on experience supporting children and young people with autism, communication differences, social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), sensory needs and learning disabilities. You will work within a small class team, providing personalised support to help pupils develop emotional regulation, positive behaviour strategies, communication skills and confidence, while promoting positive life choices and engagement with education.

This role starts April 2026, working Monday to Friday, term time only, making it ideal for graduates or support professionals seeking relevant experience before progressing into careers within youth justice, probation, policing or criminal justice services.

Pay: £101.40 – 110.00 per day

The school is easily accessible with excellent transport links, and driving is advantageous, with on-site or nearby parking available.

What you will be doing:

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis throughout the school day
  • Helping pupils develop positive behaviour strategies and emotional regulation
  • Supporting communication, independence and life skills
  • Assisting with personal care, feeding or mobility where required (full training provided)
  • Encouraging positive engagement in learning and social activities
  • Working closely with teachers and support professionals to follow individual support plans
  • Helping pupils remain safe, calm and engaged during the school day
