Milk Education is proud to be working in partnership with a specialist SEND school in East London to recruit a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support children and young people with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD).

The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to provide tailored support to pupils with a range of complex learning, physical, medical, and sensory needs.
No two days are the same, and you’ll play a vital role in helping pupils access learning, develop communication skills, and celebrate every achievement—no matter how big or small.
Your Responsibilities
- Support pupils with PMLD throughout the school day.
- Assist with personalised learning activities both inside and outside the classroom.
- Promote communication using a range of methods, including visual aids and sensory approaches.
- Support pupils with personal care, feeding, and mobility where required.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families to provide the highest standard of care and education.
- Encourage independence, confidence, and social interaction.
- Create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
- Record observations and contribute to pupil progress where appropriate.

- Comfortable supporting pupils with complex medical and physical needs, including personal care.
- A confident communicator and team player.
- Flexible, proactive, and eager to learn.
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Experience
Previous experience is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from:
- SEND Teaching Assistants

- Care Assistants
- Nursery Practitioners
- Psychology or Education graduates
- Individuals with experience supporting people with disabilities or additional needs
Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
