Milk Education is currently recruiting for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Darlington. About the Role
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school. Working alongside teachers and school leaders, you will help deliver engaging lessons, provide targeted interventions, and support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development. You may work across Early Years, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2, helping pupils build confidence, independence, and positive attitudes towards learning.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading whole-class, small-group, and intervention activities
- Delivering pre-planned lessons and learning activities
- Supporting pupils with their academic progress and personal development
- Providing targeted support for pupils with additional learning needs
- Supporting positive behaviour strategies and classroom routines
- Working closely with teachers and school staff to improve pupil outcomes
- Encouraging confidence, independence, and engagement in learning

We Would Love to Hear From You If You Have:
- HLTA status or significant experience working as a Teaching Assistant
- Experience supporting learning within a primary school setting
- Confidence delivering lessons and activities independently
- Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- A genuine passion for supporting children’s education
Experience supporting pupils with SEND is desirable but not essential.
