Milk Education are working with a primary school in Hexham who are seeking a full-time Year 2 Teaching Assistant to work 1‑2‑1 with a child in Year 2 who has Autism. The hours of work are 08:30 am – 15:30 pm, Monday to Friday. For this role the school is looking for someone who is patient, nurturing and accommodating to the child’s learning needs. You will be responsible for keeping the child on task, ensuring the work they are doing is of good standard, preparing resources for the day and providing a patient and nurturing learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Promote inclusion and acceptance of all children
  • Support children consistently whilst responding to their individual needs
  • Work with the teacher in lesson planning, evaluating and adjusting lessons/plans as appropriate
  • Deliver catch‑up sessions
  • Keep the child on task and ensure the work they are doing meets a good standard
  • Prepare resources for the day and ensure the child’s needs are met

Qualifications

  • Recent or relevant experience working with children and young people within the past two years
  • Passion for education
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills
  • Ability to work under the guidance of the teacher
  • Reliability and punctuality
