Milk Education is recruiting compassionate and dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistants to support learners within a specialist post-16 educational setting in Harrogate from September.
The setting provides a highly inclusive environment for young people with a range of additional needs, helping them to develop academically, socially and independently as they prepare for adulthood.
This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and making a lasting impact on their education and personal development.
Key Responsibilities
- Support learners on a 1:1 and small group basis throughout the college day.
- Assist with personalised learning activities tailored to individual EHCP outcomes.
- Encourage independence, communication and confidence both in and out of the classroom.
- Support learners with life skills, employability activities and community-based learning where required.
- Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and engagement.
- Work closely with teaching staff and therapists to deliver high-quality support.
- Assist with personal care where required.
- Help create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
About You
- Caring, patient and resilient.
- Passionate about supporting young people with SEND.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexible and proactive approach.
- Previous experience within education, care or support work is desirable.
- Psychology, Education, Health & Social Care or related graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Knowledge of Autism, learning disabilities or communication strategies is beneficial but not essential.
