We’re looking for personable, adaptable individuals to join a specialist primary school supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This role offers hands-on experience, flexible working patterns, and the chance to build key skills in education, psychology, child development, or related fields.
About the Role
- Support pupils with additional needs, including ASD, in classroom and small-group settings
- Help deliver structured learning activities and targeted support to aid engagement and development
- Assist with preparing and adapting materials so lessons are accessible for all learners
- Use positive behaviour and communication strategies to support emotional regulation and engagement
- Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to help provide a safe, inclusive learning environment
- Supervise and support pupils during transitions, break times, and routine tasks
This role is particularly suited to graduates considering careers in education, educational psychology, speech & language therapy, child development, or pastoral support, as well as undergraduates who need flexibility around study commitments.
What We’re Looking For
- Is studying toward or has completed a bachelor’s degree in any field (degrees related to psychology, education, sociology or child development are a plus but not essential)
- Enjoys working with young people and wants practical experience in a specialist setting
- Has a flexible schedule and reliable availability for day-to-day bookings
- Communicates clearly, works well in a team, and stays calm under pressure
- Is committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing (enhanced DBS required/willing to obtain)
- No prior formal SEN experience is necessary, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn go a long way.
