Are you a graduate looking to gain school-based experience before embarking on a career in teaching or the education sector? Do you have a passion for working with young people and making a positive impact on their school journey? Milk Education is currently working with schools throughout Surrey to appoint a Graduate Learning Mentor for the academic year, or from this term onwards (September 2025 - July 2026), on a full-time or part-time basis. You will work with students requiring both academic and pastoral support to help them reach their expected levels of progress.

Graduate Learning Mentor Role and Responsibilities

  • Work with students on a 1:1 basis, providing tailored intervention sessions.
  • Support full class teachers in the classroom.
  • Opportunities to cover lessons, gaining invaluable experience prior to starting a PGCE or School Direct teacher training programme.

We are looking for aspiring teachers who have graduated in any of the following fields:

  • Maths
  • English
  • Science
  • Humanities (History, Geography, RE)
  • Languages
  • Art and Design
  • Psychology or Social Sciences
  • Sport & Physical Activity

Graduate Learning Mentor Requirements

  • Must have a university degree, 2:2 or above.
  • Previous experience working with young people is beneficial but not essential.
  • Clear desire to work with young people and pursue a career in teaching.
  • Ability to provide two references from the past two years.
  • Willingness to undertake CPD training as requested by Milk and your placement school.
