Are you a graduate looking to gain school-based experience before embarking on a career in teaching or the education sector? Do you have a passion for working with young people and making a positive impact on their school journey? Milk Education is currently working with schools throughout Surrey to appoint a Graduate Learning Mentor for the academic year, or from this term onwards (September 2025 - July 2026), on a full-time or part-time basis. You will work with students requiring both academic and pastoral support to help them reach their expected levels of progress.
Graduate Learning Mentor Role and Responsibilities
- Work with students on a 1:1 basis, providing tailored intervention sessions.
- Support full class teachers in the classroom.
- Opportunities to cover lessons, gaining invaluable experience prior to starting a PGCE or School Direct teacher training programme.
We are looking for aspiring teachers who have graduated in any of the following fields:
- Maths
- English
- Science
- Humanities (History, Geography, RE)
- Languages
- Art and Design
- Psychology or Social Sciences
- Sport & Physical Activity
Graduate Learning Mentor Requirements
- Must have a university degree, 2:2 or above.
- Previous experience working with young people is beneficial but not essential.
- Clear desire to work with young people and pursue a career in teaching.
- Ability to provide two references from the past two years.
- Willingness to undertake CPD training as requested by Milk and your placement school.
