Are you looking for a rewarding role where you can work across both Secondary and SEND schools, making a real difference to pupils who benefit from a supportive and active learning approach?
We are currently seeking a dedicated Sports Coach to work across Secondary and SEND schools in the Gateshead area. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils both in PE lessons and in the classroom, encouraging positive behaviour, and helping pupils stay engaged in learning through sport and structured activities. You will work closely with teaching staff and school support teams to create a positive and inclusive environment where every pupil feels supported, motivated, and confident.
Working Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday (flexible supply work available)
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with young people in a sports, coaching, or in working in a school setting
- A positive, patient, and supportive approach
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills
- Confidence working with pupils with additional needs
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- A proactive and professional attitude
- Ability to provide two recent references
Desirable:
- Experience working in a secondary school or SEND setting
- Coaching qualifications (e.g. Level 2 Coaching, Sports Coaching qualification, or similar)
- Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, autism, or additional learning needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Support pupils during PE lessons and sports activities
- Work with pupils one-to-one or in small groups to support engagement and behaviour
- Help create a positive and structured learning environment
- Support pupils with additional needs where required
- Encourage teamwork, confidence, and positive behaviour through sport
- Support teaching staff both in lessons and during school activities
- Provide feedback to staff on pupil progress where required
