Lower Key Stage 2 Primary Teacher – Role Overview
As a Lower Key Stage 2 Primary Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and creative lessons in line with the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum. You will create an inclusive and stimulating classroom environment where pupils feel supported, challenged, and motivated to learn.
You will work closely with colleagues, support staff, and parents to ensure pupils make excellent academic, social, and emotional progress while maintaining high expectations for behaviour and learning.
Lower Key Stage 2 Primary Teacher – Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Deliver engaging and creative lessons aligned with the KS2 National Curriculum
- Plan, prepare, and assess learning to meet the needs of all pupils
- Differentiate teaching to support children with a range of learning abilities and SEND
- Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
Pupil Development & Wellbeing
- Support pupils’ academic progress, confidence, and personal development
- Promote positive behaviour and high expectations for learning
- Build strong relationships that encourage engagement and achievement
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and nurturing learning environment
Teamwork & Professional Practice
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and parents
- Assess, monitor, and report on pupil progress
- Follow safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times
- Contribute positively to the wider school community
Lower Key Stage 2 Primary Teacher – Essential Criteria
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Recent and relevant UK teaching experience within Lower Key Stage 2
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- A reflective, enthusiastic, and committed approach to teaching and learning
- Must live locally to Gateshead—no relocation
