EYFS Early Years Teaching Assistant – Darlington
Milk Education is working in partnership with a number of welcoming and supportive Primary Schools across Darlington and the surrounding areas, and we are looking to recruit caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated EYFS Early Years Teaching Assistants for roles starting in
September 2026 .
Whether you’re an experienced Early Years Teaching Assistant, hold a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or have recent experience supporting children within an EYFS setting, we’d love to hear from you.
We have a variety of long‑term, full‑time opportunities available, with many offering the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting children’s learning and development, helping to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where every child can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and creative learning activities in line with the EYFS Framework.
- Encourage children’s learning through play, exploration, and structured activities.
- Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment.
- Support children’s social, emotional, and educational development.
- Observe, record, and monitor children’s progress.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, carers, and colleagues.
- Support children with additional learning needs where required.
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage independence.
- Assist with personal care where necessary.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant or Early Years qualification is desirable.
- Previous experience working within an EYFS, Nursery, or Primary School setting.
- Good understanding of the EYFS Framework.
- A caring, patient, and nurturing approach.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Passion for supporting children during the early stages of their education.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
