Milk Education are working in partnership with a successful and inclusive secondary school in Enfield to recruit a dedicated Pastoral Assistant to join their pastoral team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Pastoral Assistant who is passionate about supporting young people, promoting positive behaviour and helping students overcome barriers to learning.

The successful Pastoral Assistant will work closely with students across Key Stages 3 and 4, providing targeted pastoral support to improve attendance, engagement, wellbeing and academic outcomes. As a Pastoral Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring students feel supported, safe and able to thrive within a nurturing school environment.

The Role:

  • Working as a Pastoral Assistant to support students with their wellbeing, behaviour and attendance
  • Delivering 1:1 mentoring sessions and small-group interventions
  • Supporting students who may be experiencing social, emotional or behavioural challenges
  • Monitoring attendance and punctuality, helping students develop positive routines
  • Working closely with Heads of Year, safeguarding teams and pastoral leaders
  • Building strong relationships with students, families and external agencies where required
  • Promoting positive behaviour and supporting restorative approaches
  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to pastoral support plans

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience as a Pastoral Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Learning Mentor, Youth Worker or Teaching Assistant
  • Experience supporting secondary-aged students
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Patient, resilient and empathetic approach
  • Ability to motivate and engage young people
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Passion for improving outcomes for students

Essential Requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Right to Work in the UK
