Milk Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate KS2 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school from September on a temporary basis. This role involves providing one-to-one support for a pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) within Key Stage 2. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure the child is fully supported both academically and socially, helping them to thrive within the classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing one-to-one support for a pupil with ASD in a KS2 classroom
- Supporting the child’s learning, engagement, and participation in lessons
- Implementing strategies to support communication, emotional regulation, and social development
- Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored support
- Encouraging independence and confidence within the school environment
- Building positive relationships with the pupil, staff, and parents where appropriate
- Assisting with classroom activities and adapting resources to meet individual needs
The Ideal Candidate Will
- Have previous experience working with children with ASD and/or additional needs
- Have experience supporting children within a primary school setting, ideally KS2
- Be patient, empathetic, and resilient
- Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Be committed to supporting children to achieve their full potential
- Hold relevant qualifications or training relating to SEND (desirable)
