The Role

We are seeking a caring, patient, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a Year 6 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at a welcoming and inclusive school in Newham. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them achieve both academically and socially. You will play a key role in supporting the pupil's learning, emotional regulation, and transition towards secondary education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support for a Year 6 pupil with ASD
  • Support learning inside and outside the classroom
  • Implement strategies outlined in the pupil's EHCP
  • Assist with emotional regulation, routines, and transitions
  • Encourage positive behaviour and social interaction
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to staff

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience supporting children with ASD and SEN (school or alternative provision experience preferred)
