We’re currently recruiting for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work within welcoming and supportive Primary Schools throughout Boldon, on both short-term and long-term assignments starting in September. This role is ideal for qualified and experienced HLTAs looking for a varied position, supporting schools through PPA cover, teacher absences, targeted interventions and classroom support across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.

Your Main Responsibilities

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons during PPA sessions and teacher absences.
  • Lead whole-class learning in the absence of the class teacher.
  • Provide high-quality teaching and learning support across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
  • Deliver targeted interventions in Reading, Writing and Maths to raise attainment and close learning gaps.
  • Support pupils on a one-to-one and small group basis.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and senior leaders to support pupil progress.
  • Adapt learning activities to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND.
  • Promote positive behaviour and maintain a safe, engaging learning environment.
  • Assist with assessment, progress monitoring and pupil feedback.

Requirements

  • HLTA Status or a recognised Level 4 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning.
  • Previous experience working as a HLTA within a Primary School setting.
  • Strong understanding of the Primary National Curriculum.
  • Experience delivering interventions and leading whole-class learning.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Strong communication, organisational and teamwork skills.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting schools and pupils.

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience and the requirements of the assignment.
