Milk Education is seeking a passionate and dedicated Secondary Science Teacher to work a Maternity Cover for a Secondary School in Durham. This is a rewarding opportunity to inspire pupils through engaging Science lessons, support learners of varying abilities, and create a calm, structured classroom environment where students can build confidence and achieve their full potential.
Location: Durham
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
Pay: (dependent on experience)
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience teaching Science in a secondary school KS3–KS4
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- A proactive, professional attitude with a commitment to inclusive education
- Ability to provide two recent references
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, pre-planned Science lessons across KS3–KS5
- Create and maintain a positive, structured learning environment
- Support pupils’ progress and confidence in Mathematics
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet a range of learning needs and abilities
- Maintain high standards of behaviour management
- Work collaboratively with school staff to ensure continuity of Maths learning
- Provide feedback on pupil progress where required
