We’re currently recruiting for a Cover Supervisor in Hyde to support welcoming secondary schools on a short-term, long-term or temp-to-perm basis. This Cover Supervisor job in Hyde is ideal for experienced Cover Supervisors, graduates, aspiring teachers, sports coaches, youth workers or anyone with experience working with children and young people who is confident leading a classroom. You’ll be joining supportive secondary schools across Hyde that value inclusion, student wellbeing and high expectations. This is a great opportunity to become a familiar face within a school community, build positive relationships with students and staff, and gain valuable experience in secondary education.

Your Main Responsibilities

  • Delivering pre-set lessons across a range of secondary subjects in the absence of the class teacher
  • Managing classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies
  • Ensuring students remain focused, engaged and on task throughout lessons
  • Supporting pupils with their learning and responding appropriately to individual needs
  • Building positive relationships with students and school staff
  • Maintaining a safe, positive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Providing feedback to teaching staff following lessons where required

Requirements or Skills

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in a school, coaching, youth work, mentoring or care setting
  • Previous Cover Supervisor experience is desirable but not essential
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the confidence to lead a classroom independently
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A calm, confident and adaptable approach
  • A professional presence and ability to establish positive relationships with pupils
  • A genuine interest in education and supporting young people
  • Graduates and aspiring teachers are encouraged to apply
