Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them thrive both inside and outside the classroom? A welcoming secondary school in Doncaster is seeking a caring and proactive Pastoral Officer to join their dedicated pastoral team from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys building positive relationships with students and making a meaningful difference to their wellbeing, attendance, behaviour, and overall school experience.

The Role

  • Provide day-to-day pastoral support to students, helping them overcome barriers to learning
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage students to make positive choices
  • Support pupils with their emotional wellbeing, confidence, and personal development
  • Monitor attendance, behaviour, and welfare concerns, putting appropriate support plans in place where needed
  • Work closely with teaching staff, safeguarding teams, parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure students receive the right support
  • Encourage high levels of engagement, attendance, and participation in school life
  • Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all pupils
  • Be a trusted adult and first point of contact for students requiring additional guidance

About You

  • Have experience working in a pastoral, behaviour, attendance, safeguarding, or student support role, ideally within a secondary school
  • Be confident supporting young people with social, emotional, behavioural, or additional learning needs
  • Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Be calm, approachable, and able to build trust with students, families, and colleagues
  • Be organised, proactive, and committed to improving outcomes for young people
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one
