This role will initially begin on a supply basis through Milk Education, allowing both the candidate and school to ensure the role is the right fit. However, the school is looking for someone long-term and intends to quickly move the successful candidate onto a permanent contract directly with the school following a successful initial period. The Role
As a School Caretaker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the school site is safe, secure, clean, and well-maintained for pupils, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Opening and locking the school premises daily
- Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs
- Ensuring the school grounds are clean, tidy, and safe
- Conducting health & safety checks around the site
- Assisting with deliveries, furniture moving, and room setups
- Monitoring heating, lighting, and alarm systems
- Liaising with contractors and reporting maintenance issues
- Supporting the school during events and emergencies where required
- Maintaining high standards of site security and cleanliness at all times
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have previous caretaking, maintenance, facilities, or site management experience
- Be practical, organized, and able to work independently
- Have good knowledge of health & safety procedures
- Be dependable, trustworthy, and proactive
- Be comfortable working in a school environment
- Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service (or be willing to obtain one)
