We are currently recruiting a dedicated SEN Tutor who specialises in hair and beauty to join a specialist provision conveniently located for candidates seeking a role local to the school. This position offers part-time hours (two to three days per week) with permanent, full-time options available for tutors who can also deliver textiles.
You will be joining a highly supportive, specialist school environment focused on nurturing vulnerable learners aged 8 to 18 with complex social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. This is an exceptional opportunity for a qualified SEN Tutor to deliver both small-group and one-to-one vocational sessions across classroom settings and local outreach services.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Delivering tailored hair and beauty sessions as an SEN Tutor to small groups and individual pupils with complex SEMH needs.
- Differentiating all aspects of vocational learning to promote inclusion, engagement, and attainment across Entry Level, Functional Skills, or vocational awards.
- Planning, monitoring, and evaluating pupil progress while contributing to individual learning pathways and outcomes.
- Building positive, trusting relationships with vulnerable children to help them overcome barriers to learning.
- Maintaining strong safeguarding practices, behaviour de-escalation, and classroom structure as an SEN Tutor.
Requirements or Skills:
- Recognized education or teaching qualification (such as QTS, Level 3 AET, PTLLS, or PGCE).
- Proven experience as an SEN Tutor or educator working with young people with complex SEMH needs and challenging behaviours.
- Solid subject knowledge and practical background in vocational educational pathways, specifically hair and beauty (textiles experience is a plus).
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle for local outreach tutoring.
- Strong resilience, adaptability, and an engaging, child-focused approach.
