Milk Education is working with a large SEND specialist provision in the central Staines, Surrey area to recruit Autism Support Workers who genuinely want to make a positive difference in the lives of children and young people with complex SEND needs. This role focuses on providing support for learners with Autism & ADHD, as well as a range of other learning disabilities, including students who are non-verbal or have significant communication needs.

This role is suited to individuals who are patient, calm and confident in supporting students who require structured routines, clear communication strategies and consistent emotional support. Pupils may present with sensory processing differences, emotional regulation needs or behaviours that communicate unmet needs.

Both full-time and part-time positions are available, offering flexibility to suit your availability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide consistent 1:1 and small group support for pupils aged from 5 - 19 years old with a range of complex SEND, including Autism & ADHD.
  • Support non-verbal pupils using alternative and augmentative communication strategies.
  • Use tools such as Makaton, visual timetables and communication boards to support understanding and engagement.
  • Support with the delivery of Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Encourage emotional regulation, communication and engagement in learning.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with teachers, other school staff and external professionals.
  • Help create a structured, calm and inclusive learning environment for all.
Person Specification:
  • Experienced Support Workers who are open to working with children would fit this role perfectly due to the complex needs of the children who attend this school.
  • Previous experience administering personal care would be advantageous, or a willingness to assist in this area if required.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • A patient, caring and non-judgmental approach to supporting others.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to adapt to individual needs.
  • Ability to work proactively, both independently and as part of a team.
  • An Enhanced DBS certificate on the update service (or willingness to apply).
