We’re currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic KS1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive Primary School in Bury on a long-term basis, starting ASAP or in September. As a KS1 Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils during a crucial stage of their educational journey. Working closely with class teachers and support staff, you’ll help create a positive and engaging learning environment that enables children to develop academically, socially, and emotionally.

The Role

  • Support teaching and learning within Key Stage 1 classrooms
  • Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning and boost confidence
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons
  • Support pupils with varying learning abilities, including those with SEND
  • Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in learning
  • Help pupils develop their literacy, numeracy, and communication skills
  • Support classroom organisation and the preparation of learning resources
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff where appropriate
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

About You

  • Holds a relevant qualification in Education, Childhood Studies, Psychology, or a related field, or has previous experience working with children within a primary school, childcare, or similar setting
  • Has experience supporting children within Key Stage 1 (KS1) or a strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum
  • Has a genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development
  • Demonstrates patience, enthusiasm, and a positive approach to learning
  • Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is proactive, reliable, and able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Understands safeguarding responsibilities and positive behaviour management strategies
  • Has experience supporting pupils with SEND (desirable)
  • Is committed to helping every child reach their full potential in a safe and inclusive learning environment
