We’re currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic KS1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive Primary School in Bury on a long-term basis, starting ASAP or in September. As a KS1 Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils during a crucial stage of their educational journey. Working closely with class teachers and support staff, you’ll help create a positive and engaging learning environment that enables children to develop academically, socially, and emotionally.
The Role
- Support teaching and learning within Key Stage 1 classrooms
- Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning and boost confidence
- Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons
- Support pupils with varying learning abilities, including those with SEND
- Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in learning
- Help pupils develop their literacy, numeracy, and communication skills
- Support classroom organisation and the preparation of learning resources
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff where appropriate
- Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
About You
- Holds a relevant qualification in Education, Childhood Studies, Psychology, or a related field, or has previous experience working with children within a primary school, childcare, or similar setting
- Has experience supporting children within Key Stage 1 (KS1) or a strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum
- Has a genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development
- Demonstrates patience, enthusiasm, and a positive approach to learning
- Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Is proactive, reliable, and able to work effectively as part of a team
- Understands safeguarding responsibilities and positive behaviour management strategies
- Has experience supporting pupils with SEND (desirable)
- Is committed to helping every child reach their full potential in a safe and inclusive learning environment
