Milk Education is more than a supply partner – we’re a community for educators. We’re currently seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming and inclusive Secondary School in Bury on a long‑term basis, starting ASAP or in September. As a HLTA, you’ll play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school. Working closely with classroom teachers, pastoral teams and the SENCO, you’ll help students overcome barriers to learning, build confidence and achieve their academic potential. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant looking to take the next step in their career or an established HLTA seeking a new challenge.

Role

  • Deliver targeted interventions to individuals and small groups
  • Provide classroom support to help students remain engaged and make progress
  • Lead learning activities and deliver pre‑planned lessons in the absence of teaching staff
  • Support students with SEND and additional learning needs
  • Encourage positive behaviour and promote a productive learning environment
  • Monitor and report on student progress where appropriate
  • Build positive relationships with students, staff and families
  • Support students’ social, emotional and academic development

About You

  • Holds HLTA status or has significant experience as a Teaching Assistant within a secondary school setting
  • Has experience working with children or young people
  • Is confident leading learning activities and managing small groups
  • Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Has a proactive, flexible and positive approach
  • Understands safeguarding responsibilities and behaviour management strategies
  • Has experience supporting students with SEND (desirable)
