We are currently recruiting for a Personal Care Assistant to join a specialist SEND secondary school in Bolton, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs and complex learning requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is caring, patient and resilient, with a genuine passion for supporting young people with SEND and helping them develop their independence and confidence.

The Role

  • Providing personal care and hygiene support to pupils in a dignified and respectful manner.
  • Supporting pupils with toileting, changing, feeding and mobility, where required.
  • Assisting pupils with their daily routines and promoting independence and life skills.
  • Supporting pupils within the classroom and across the school environment.
  • Working closely with teachers and other support staff to meet individual needs.
  • Supporting pupils with SEND, physical disabilities, complex needs and communication difficulties.
  • Helping to maintain a safe, calm and nurturing environment.
  • Following individual care plans, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures.
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils.

About You

  • Experience working with children, young people or adults with SEND.
  • Previous experience providing personal care is desirable but not essential.
  • A patient, compassionate and nurturing approach.
  • The confidence to support pupils with intimate and personal care needs.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
  • The resilience to work in a busy specialist school environment.
  • A genuine passion for helping pupils with additional needs become as independent and confident as possible.

This role would suit candidates from backgrounds including care, healthcare, support work, SEN support, residential care, youth work or education.
